The beauty of dried flowers? They are ideal for all those who love flowers but don't want to take care of them. This is because dried flowers are probably the easiest flowers in the world to care for – and they last at least six months (usually even longer). That's why they're really popular again.
For a long time, dried flowers had a dusty reputation. However, this has changed dramatically in recent years and bouquets of dried flowers are now the eye-catcher par excellence when it comes to decoration. Whether in the living room, on the kitchen table, the bedside table or in the bathroom – small or even opulent bouquets of dried flowers look good everywhere! In this blog we have already told you where to find the best place for your dried bouquets.
Our bouquets are lovingly made from 100% organic dried flowers from a flower farmer in beautiful Aargau. And because we have put a lot of attention to detail into the planning of our collection bouquets (available since October 2021), it is of course also very important to us that you share the joy of the dried creations with us. Dried bouquets are still a matter of taste, but we have made an effort, especially in the composition of colours and varieties, to ensure that there is something suitable for everyone!
The biggest advantage of dried flowers is well known: you (almost) don't have to take care of them! Yet the "almost" is justified, because there are certain things you can bear in mind with dried flowers to enjoy them even longer. In the following, we will give you a few helpful tips along the way:
1. Water-shy
First things first: please do not water your dry bouquet – it will neither thrive better nor like the cool water very much. But I don't think we need to say more :-)
2. The perfect vase
Dried flowers do not need water – so you are completely free in the choice of your vase. However, we recommend an opaque vase, e.g. a ceramic one. This way you can arrange the flowers and don't have to worry about how it looks "down below". We also recommend a vase that is narrower at the top. This prevents the stems from falling apart. For example, the ceramic vases "Marisa" or "Nuno" by Motel a Miio or the porcelain vases by the Danish label Ditte Fischer as shown in the photo here (available in the Ademas online shop).
3. Arranging made easy
You can place your bouquet in a vase or arrange it yourself. You just want to give your flowers a little more air? Then you can take the bouquet into your hand, cut the ribbon and place the bouquet in the vase as a whole. The stems will then spread out on their own and find their perfect spot for a light and airy look.
4. The perfect spot
Whether in the kitchen, living room or bathroom. Dry bouquets look good everywhere. However, if you want to preserve the colours of your bouquet for longer, you should not place it directly in front of the window. In direct sunlight, the flowers fade more quickly – but that can also look beautiful.
5. Dusting instead of gathering dust
You can indeed carefully dust your dried bouquet. But the stems of dried cut flowers are fragile. For dried flowers with a larger surface, such as poppy pods, you can use a fine brush. For grasses and finer flowers, use a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Then blow on the flowers from a distance of about 30-50 centimetres – preferably with cold air. Importantly, hold the bouquet slightly downwards and do not blow the stems at a 90-degree angle.
Easy, right? So, if you're someone who doesn't like to bother with fresh flowers, why not try one of our great dried bouquets made from 100% Swiss organic flowers and be surprised by the colourful and non-dusty look? As a tip: dried bouquets are also a great gift idea for all those people you have always wanted to give a low-maintenance cactus!
